  1. My favorite banned book is called The Color Purple and it's about Celie, a poor black girl living in the Southern United States. Her father is cruel and abusive to her and her younger sisters. He marries Celie off to an older man. Celie is unhappy being married. She has also lost touch with her sisters. It is a book about huge loss and terror but also rich in love and music.
