Next Week at the Library...

On Tuesday, May 15, 2012, at 6:30 pm, we have Topsham veterinarian, Dr. Susan Chadima, who will share some of her experiences of working in Afghanistan. Dr. Chadima will also introduce Sgt. Pen Farthing, founder of Nowzad dogs. Nowzad Dogs, a nonprofit organization founded in the UK, which is now expanding to the U.S., rescues stray dogs, cats, and donkeys from the war-torn streets of Afghanistan. Nowzad rehabilitates the animals and finds them new homes in safe environments around the world.

Sgt. Farthing will talk about his efforts on behalf of Afghani animals and his book entitled, One Dog at a Time: the determination of one man to make a difference for the strays of Afghanistan. This program is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the library-725-1727 or www.topshamlibrary.org.  Nowzad’s website is www.nowzad.com.

Staff Picks is back!

For the month of May, we're bringing back Staff Picks! Come and see what books and DVDs the TPL staff enjoyed. You'll find them on display at the back of the book island (where the new non-fiction used to be).
